Archiving Projects
Archive a project when the event is finished or no longer active but you still want to keep the record in LiftOff.
When to use this page
Archiving removes finished work from your active project list without deleting history. It is also required before permanent deletion.
Who can do this
Owners, admins, and members can archive and unarchive projects.
How to archive a project
- Open the project.
- Open the project menu or archive action in the header.
- Select Archive.
- Confirm if prompted.
The project moves to the Archived filter on the Projects list and shows an archived banner on the detail page.
What changes when a project is archived
- The project no longer appears in the default Active list.
- Most editing is limited until the project is unarchived.
- Tasks, notes, files, and activity history are kept.
- Disable the Email to Project address if new forwarded emails should no longer be added to the project.
How to unarchive
- Open Projects and switch to Archived.
- Open the project.
- Select Unarchive.
The project returns to your active workflow.
Next steps
- Owners and admins can permanently delete archived projects. See Deleting Projects.
- Completed events may also use the Completed list filter if status was set to completed before archiving.
Good to know
- Archiving is reversible. Deletion is not.
- Project guest access may end when a project is archived, depending on your team's process.
