Creating a Project

Create a project when you start planning a new event or production. A project holds the event details, client, schedule, team, tasks, notes, and files in one place.

See the walkthrough: Creating a Project for a screenshot-led tour.

When to use this page

Use project creation when a new event enters your pipeline, from first inquiry through confirmed booking.

Who can do this

Owners, admins, and members can create projects. Project guests cannot create projects.

Ways to create a project

Quick Add (fastest)

  1. Click Quick Add from the top of the app (desktop or mobile).
  2. Fill in the project form: title, client, dates, location, and other details.
  3. Save the project.

Use Quick Add when you already know the basics and want to get the project into LiftOff quickly.

New project page

  1. Go to Projects.
  2. Select New project.
  3. Complete the full creation form.
  4. Save the project.

Create from photos or documents (AI-assisted)

When you have a brief, sketch, inspiration board, or PDF:

  1. Start a new project or use Quick Add.
  2. Choose the option to draft from images or uploads.
  3. Add up to six photos or files.
  4. Wait while LiftOff reads visible details.
  5. Review the draft fields before saving.

LiftOff may suggest client contact details, schedule timing, and a trailer recommendation when that information appears in your uploads. Always verify before sharing with clients.

After saving, you may see a Project review step to approve suggested tasks and schedule blocks. See Project Review.

Good to know

  • AI drafts reflect what is visible in your uploads. They may miss or misread details.
  • Schedule blocks may be generated automatically based on your Schedule Settings.
  • Projects start in an active planning state; you can update status as the event progresses.
